Designer
Karin Fong
Karin Fong is a director and designer based in Los Angeles.
She began her career with an art degree from Yale and a stint animating for Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? at WGBH Boston. She then joined the west coast studio of R/GA before becoming a founding member and partner at Imaginary Forces in 1996.
Karin has contributed to numerous title sequences for film and television including The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996), Mimic (1997), Dead Man on Campus (1998), Charlie's Angels (2000), Daredevil (2003), Hellboy (2004), Charlotte’s Web (2006), Terminator: Salvation (2009), Boardwalk Empire (2010), Rubicon (2010), Black Sails (2014), and Counterpart (2017). Her work has earned her five nominations and two Emmy Awards for main title design, the first in 2001, for Masterpiece Theatre, and the second 17 years later, for Counterpart.
In the advertising world, she has helmed spots for Herman Miller, Target, and Honda. She has also created cinematics for the Sony PlayStation game God of War III and large-scale video installations for sites such as Lincoln Center, Las Vegas, and the LA Opera. Karin’s work has appeared at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, The Wexner Center, Artists Space, and the Walker Art Center.
