The ’80s was a glorious time for animated title sequences, particularly for the slew of romantic comedies being churned out of Hollywood at the time.

In 1989's Loverboy, a few smooth moves of mischievous animation and breezy pop melody prime the audience to watch a young and wiry Patrick Dempsey evolve into a suave playboy. The film centers around young Randy Bodek (Dempsey) and his attempts to understand women, using his job at the delightfully well-branded Señor Pizza to deliver a little extra. Joan Micklin Silver's lighthearted film was not the first to get one of Sally Cruikshank's lively opening animations, but it was certainly one of the better few.
